Diary # 3 In our group activity today we discussed which book we will be reading for our presentation. The hardest part of this activity that we faced as a group was that we couldn’t decide which book we were going to use for our group proposal. Jaleesa. Aleksandra and myself choose â€Å"How Children Succeed† and Sasha and Dejean choose â€Å"Willpower†. Although this might have not seemed hard, it absolutely was for us because Professor Olson suggested that one or two of us should choose a different book in order for us to variety of books used during the group proposal. The easiest part of this activity that we faced as a group was when we had to explain our reasoning for picking that specific book. Throughout the group activity all of the group members acted wonderfully with each other. We have all become comfortable with each other and really enjoy communicating with each other. During this group experience I acted more relaxed and comfortable compared to how I was behaving during my group activity. During this activity our group talked about several different topics such as, the book of our choice for the group proposal, our type of design or idea that we might us when we are presenting our proposal. During my group activity I told the group members that I wanted to make a power point of my book. I also told them they I was kind of nervous to make my proposal in front of everyone because I tend to forget everything when I have all eyes are on me. Genetically Modified Foods are plants or animals that have undergone a process wherein scientists alter their genes with DNA from different species of living organisms, bacteria, or viruses to get desired traits such as resistance to disease or tolerance of pesticides. It is my intention to show the negative side effects of GMO products; which explains why so many people are becoming increasingly concerned about consuming GMO products. First let’s start with what GMO’s are and how they are created. The way GMOs are created disrupts the plant’s DNA in unintended, potentially harmful ways. In genetic engineering, a single gene is removed from one organism and forcibly inserted into another. First, scientists identify the gene they want and analyze its sequence. If the source gene is to be taken from bacteria, some of its sequence has to be rearranged because bacteria produce certain amino acids using a code different from the one used by plants. The Great Depression is seen as one of the most sorrowful and desolate times in the history of the United States. This time was the longest period of recession ever seen by this nation so far. It lasted from 1929 to 1939, over ten years of complete confusion and despondency within the people. Many Americans were affected greatly by this tragic time and sacrificed much of their lives so that they and their families may have the chance to live. This act of desperation can be seen throughout the movie, The Cinderella Man, where a professional boxer, Jim Braddock, becomes crippled by the depression, both economically and spiritually. One of the biggest results of the crash was the closure of banks. Because the banks were invested in the market, either direc tly or indirectly, they were hit hard by the crash and almost wiped clean of their money. Banks would make loans to stockholders, who were buying on margin, and then the banks would never get the loans paid back. This combined with the people pulling money from the banks out of fear, caused the banks to close. The banks closing in turn affected the people. The people lost their fortunes, investments, faith in the government and in truth, pretty much their lives because the crash took everything with it. Drones are commonly used for two major purposes in the field; surveillance and reconnaissance. However, while meeting their objectives drones have been subject to a number of concerns, for one, they infringe privacy rights. Secondly, the scope of those targeted by the technology is still unspecified. In addition to this, the legal or policy implication of those using the technology is still unknown. These issues among many others make UAV a highly controversial topic in the world. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) UAV technology presents so many problems that its only logical to categorise them based on the field or aspect of life they affect. Some affect privacy, others security and others affect ethical concerns. Moreover, in the field, some interfere with the existing aircraft regulations, a problem to the existing aviation laws. In this case, this assessment will follow a similar approach, starting with the problems associated with privacy, safety and ethics, then, later on, evaluate the technical issues associated with UAVs. Privacy, Safety and Ethical Problems UAV application introduces serious concern on the privacy and safety of citizens regardless of the state or country they belong.
